【Title】 MEMS (Microelectromechanical Systems) Research Activities at The University of British Columbia
【Abstract】 This talk will summarize current MEMS research activities in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UBC. Two main subjects will be discussed: (1) Magnetically actuated scanning microlens: Recent attempt has combined Raman spectroscopy with confocal imaging to perform microscale spectral analysis of tissues in vivo. Miniaturization of these devices, especially the optical scanners will greatly enhance their clinical utility. This part of the talk will describe a new magnetically actuated scanning microlens. Mechanical and optical characterizations will be discussed. (2) A MEMS drug delivery device: This talk will describe a remote-controlled MEMS drug delivery device. On-demand drug delivery process and in vitro cell study will be discussed.
