TEER measurement microfluidic device

Organ on a Chip is a microfluidic device to culture human cells and reproduce the organ in vitro, which has attracted attention as a reliable drug screening method. In this research, we are developing microfluidic devices that can measure trans-epithelial electrical resistance (TEER) with the aim of further enhancing the function of Organ on a Chip. TEER is an index that measures the barrier function of a cell monolayer in a non-invasive, label-free and real time. However, it has been pointed out that there is a variation in the measured TEER values depending on the TEER measurement system. Therefore, focusing on the electrode design mounted on the device, we proposed an electrode design that enables quantitative TEER measurement by current density analysis using the finite element method. We are going to develop more advanced TEER measurement microfluidic device
